A few fun days in Korea

After leaving the United States, we flew into South Korea to spend a few weeks with Becky's Mom and Dad. They moved from Oregon in December for Mom to work for the U.S. Army as a social worker for the next couple years in Daegu, South Korea.

Daegu is a big, modern city and quite clean. I was able to spend a little time exploring the Asian markets with Dad. Becky and I discovered a lively pedestrian street full of nice clothing stores, snack shops, and cafes. We enjoyed our walk down it especially when we ended up at Burger King eating hamburgers.

Having so recently arrived, they were still settling into their new home. Their furniture and other things arrived the week after we did, so we got to participate in the unpacking. Becky went straight to work getting everything organized.

We had the pleasure of discovering Calvary Baptist Church. They treated us so well. Pastor Ferguson and his wonderful mixture of America service personnel and Korean national congregation made us feel so welcomed.

We spent a few sweet days in Seoul seeing family and getting reacquainted. We had a very special evening at Mr. Pizza having a little family reunion with all the aunts, uncles, cousins, and their kids.

Our time in Korea was mostly relaxing. The rest was much appreciated. We had a more than a few trips to chow down on American fast food on base. Mom took us to delicious Korean restaurants. As always, she spoiled throughout our whole trip. She even induced me to try a Korean sauna.

On the 13th of February, I boarded a flight to return to China while Becky and the kids stayed on in Korea for a couple more weeks. I left early to have a chance to travel a little before the next semester begins.
